Money Maher is now the winner of three of his four starts this preparation, advancing quickly after his first-up win in a 3-Y-O Maiden (1100m) at Northam on 31 August to take out this Listed race most impressively. He began well but was eased to settle in tenth place, behind a good tempo before switching deep rounding the home turn. He then sprinted quickly, hit the front at the 100m and then drew away to score easily. He looks a smart colt with a bright future. Achernar Star settled in fourth place, moved up well nearing the home turn, briefly took the lead in the straight but had no answer to the winner’s late bid and then held on to take a sound second. Reykjavik raced in seventh place, improved behind runners at the home turn and kept battling on quite well in the straight to take the minor placing.
