A winner here two starts back in the Detonator Stakes (Listed, 1800m), Falcon Crest settled a distant third (rails) and remained there past the 1000m as well as the 600m before edging closer, moving into a challenging position into the home straight. Jockey Chris Parnham worked on him to catch the leader, doing so at the 100m but on his outer had a fight on his hands. Under desperate riding they looked the winner then didn't but dropped his head right on the line to get the decision in a head bobber, his eighth win. Red Ora swept around the outside near the last corner to be fourth turning in, got up level with the winner at the 200m and the two of them fought it out to the line in an exciting finish. Already Famous was third last turning in and was kept going to grab third just short of the post from North Ridge who got going late to rush into fourth.
