Ultra consistent Mississippi Delta has now run first or second in 11 of her last 12 starts and had this under control from the last 100m for career win eight and second at black type level. She went forward early to sit just back of the leader with a circuit to run before dropping back into the one out, one back pocket. When the pace increased inside the 700m rider Chris Parnham kept her handy, improved to be second nearing the last corner and ready to challenge. She took a few strides to balance but caught the leader at the 150m then put her head in front at the 100m after which she was able to hold on by a half length at the wire. Stablemate Action sat three wide from the 800m, tracked the winner into the straight then ran on, doing his best work late to get second. Cappo D'Oro took over at the 500m, tried to sneak clear into the straight, was caught at the 150m then held on for third from Mr Alby who was handy enough turning in then battled away for fourth.
