Analysis: The consistent mare Power Princess ($1.90 fav) enjoyed a good trip fourth on the rails before moving through along the rails to be second behind the leader (Waratah’s Secret) on straightening. She got to the lead at the 100m but then had to dig deep to score a narrow but gutsy win. Ranger was ridden patiently remaining at the tail of the nine-horse field to the 600m. He moved up wide rounding the home turn, put quick run to get to third at the 200m before fighting out a close finish for second. It was a good first-up effort. Playing God was fifth one off the rails before improving wide at the turn. He put in a run to be fourth at the 200m then battled on nicely for a sound third. Waratah’s Secret began well and led the field to the 200m, tiring from that point for fourth. *ANZ
