Black Tycoon raced midfield three wide with cover before getting a nice split on turning for home where he was giving the leader (God Has Spoken) about six lengths. He put in a good run to challenge at the 100m and then fought on gamely to score well by a short neck. Kerrific had a good run fourth one out and one back. He moved up to take a narrow lead at the 200m and battled on well, failing narrowly for a good second. The favourite Ranger ($3.25) was back about tenth on the rails most of the way to 600m. He stuck to the rails and got through from the home turn and briefly looked the winner when he took a narrow lead at the 100m before fighting on for a close third. Belora had a good trip in third place on the rails to the 400m. He got a split to challenge at the 200m and battled on for a close fourth after having every chance. *ANZ
