Kincaple ($4.00 favourite) put up a very good effort to win here at only his second start in 18 months. He raced in about eighth place on the rails following a moderate pace. He got away from the rails nearing the home turn and was about seven lengths from the leader on straightening. He went to the centre of the track from the 200m and came with a late run to grab an impressive neck victory in the last few strides. He is a smart and horse, who may go to Melbourne in the spring. Moonlight Bay had a good run fourth on the rails before improving to third at the 400m. She took a narrow lead at the 100m but could not hold off the late closing winner for a good second. God Has Spoken was seventh on the rails at the 600m, stuck to the inside and got through to fourth at the 200m and continued to make ground along the rails for a sound third. His stablemate Playing God was a handy sixth, three wide with cover. He made a quick run due to the muddling pace to take a clear lead approaching the home turn and led the field to the final 100m before finishing a sound fourth. Black Tycoon was handy but wide early and made a quick run, due to the slow early pace, to take the lead at the 1200m. He was headed nearing the home turn and held on fairly well for fifth, beaten just under three lengths. *ANZ
