The outsider Bradman ($51) started from barrier 15 in the 16-horse field. He was near last and wide approaching the home turn, switching to the centre on straightening, making good ground before bursting into the clear at the 100m and finishing fast for a last-stride win. Ninth Legion worked up wide early and to race outside the leader Force Command, he looked the winner when he got to a narrow lead at the 200m, only to be caught right on the post. Force Command began quickly from his wide barrier (14) and soon led, then battled on well for a good third, beaten half length at the post. Bishops Castle was midfield but trapped wide so Michael Rodd made a quick run to take him up three wide passing the 800m point. He put in a run to challenge at the 200m and he held on very well after his early efforts to finish fourth, beaten just under a length. *ANZ
