In a tight four way finish Written Up was able to hold on to score a narrow victory. Written Up was midfield on the fence in the run, but over racing badly. Jamie Mott allowed the gelding to improve his position along the inside to be with the leaders on turning for home. He nursed his mount into the race before taking the front at the 250m and held on determinedly to score a narrow victory. Gracious Prospect had no luck at all in the run settling down four wide outside the leaders. He cornered very wide and finished on gamely in the straight to just go under. A good effort considering how much extra ground he covered. Mahican enjoyed a nice run in the race, seventh between runners. He slightly disappointed for a run on cornering and was left a little flat footed when the leaders quickened. When taken wider into the clear in the straight he worked home well for a close third. Resistant covered a lot of extra ground, racing on the outside of Mahican in sixth position. He came very wide in the straight and battled on very gamely to be closet at the line. A good effort. *ANZ
