The Mick Price-trained colt Mactier was most impressive in winning here on debut. He went back from his wide barrier (10) and raced well back in last place in the 12-horse field behind a quick tempo before going deep at the home turn. He then came with a very strong late finish to grab a narrow but most impressive win, going away at the post. He looks a smart colt. Easy Beast showed good pace from his wide barrier (11) before racing outside the leader (Crystal Wings). He got to the front at the 200m and was only to be caught on the post for a close second after running a bold race on debut.
