The Anthony Freedman-trained three-year-old gelding Irish Vega staged a good performance in winning here on debut. He was eased from his wide barrier (11), settled back in tenth place in the 14-horse field before moving up (deep) rounding the home turn. He then came with a strong late finish to grab victory on the post in a really promising effort.
