Two-year-old colt Brazen Beau ($2.75 second fav) scored an impressive all-the-way win, on debut. He was smartly away from his inside barrier (1) and went straight to the lead. He travelled nicely in front, dashed clear on turning for home and then went on to win easily by four and a half lengths. He sprinted home his final 600m in 34.58 and Chris Waller looks to have a smart young sprinter on his hands. The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt Hampton Court ($2 fav), also having his first start, was trapped deep in the early stages and raced wide most of the way before crossing to second at the home turn. He then kept fighting on for a sound second, albeit by four and a half lengths, after a difficult trip. *ANZ
