Two-year-old filly Serenade, having her second start and racing in blinkers for the first time, was a most impressive winner. She was well away and soon crossed to the lead. She then travelled well, steadied the pace before dashing clear on straightening. She went on to win by five lengths, going to the post strongly, in a very smart performance. I’m Not Sure raced in fourth place, between runners. He went to third on turning into the straight and fought on quite well for second, having no chance with the winner. Echo Queen raced in fifth place, but was caught three wide without cover. She moved up at the home turn, went to a distant second at the 200m and battled on nicely for third after a difficult trip. Godolphin-raced colt Salt Flat, a firm favourite at his first start, missed the start and was second last in the nine-horse field to the home turn. He ran on resolutely in the straight for a promising (6.2 lengths) fourth. He should benefit from the experience and will appreciate longer distances.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
