Chris Waller-trained filly Overstep resumed after her debut third in a Two-Year-Old Maiden (1100m) at Bendigo on 23 February to score a promising first-up win here. She was smartly away from her good barrier (2) and settled nicely in third place on the rails. She got a split at the home turn, hit the front at the 200m and then fought back gamely for a good win. Star Of Monsoon did not slow much early pace and he settled back in seventh place. He got along the rails from the 800m, was fifth (under riding) at the home turn, got to second at the 100m and fought well for a sound first-up second, looking suited to further. Fabvier raced back in eighth place (deep), improved (wide out) rounding the home turn, got to fifth at the 200m and kept running on well for a promising first-up third. It was a smart effort and she is a filly to watch.
