Sweet Ava, a sister to last season’s Group One-placed and Group Two-winning two-year-old Menari, created quite an impression with a good win here on debut. She settled well outside the leader (Diamondsandjewels), challenged that runner strongly at the 200m and finished too well to score in promising fashion, looking suited to further. Diamondsandjewels showed good pace and led until the 100m before fighting on for second. Eawase was fifth, between runners, got a split at the 200m and battled on well for third in a sound debut. The Godolphinraced filly Membrillo raced behind the leader and kept battling on quite well in restricted room for fourth while Fun Fact was caught three wide without cover in about third place and held on well for fifth after a difficult trip on debut.
