Budriguez made it four wins from his last five starts with an all-the-way victory. He travelled well in front, pinched a break rounding the home turn and was not threatened to win by over a length at the post. Sertorius was seventh on the rails, switched out on the turn but did not get fully into the clear until the 200m, then making ground to get second in a photo. The consistent British General was outside the leader (Budriguez) to the 600m and was under pressure in second place from the 300m but kept trying, just missing second in a photo in the last few strides, to finish third. Launay was sixth one off the rails, moved up three wide at the 600m and just kept battling on in the straight for fourth just in front of Under The Eiffel who was same most of the way in finishing fifth, while Precedence was a late-closing sixth, coming from the tail of the field, in his first run since November. *ANZ
