Michael Rodd elected to ride Atlantic Jewel patiently and he eased her on jumping and settled in fourth place in the small five-horse field, following a slow pace (first 1400m 1:29.66). She moved up comfortably nearing the home turn, challenged on straightening and raced away passing the 200m to score effortlessly by four lengths. Foreteller remained in last place to the 600m, followed up behind Atlantic Jewel rounding the turn, got to a distant second at the 100m and battled on nicely from that point to hold second at the post, putting up a sound effort. Super Cool was third to the 600m, he moved up three wide at the turn, went to second at the 400m and held on for third, another length back. The other two runners, Massiyn was second to the turn before finishing a distant fourth and Spacecraft led to the turn but tired in the straight to finish 14 lengths last. *ANZ
