Moment Of Change ($2.35 fav) was quickly away and went straight to the lead. He then steadied the tempo (first 800m 48.38) and travelled well in front. He picked up the pace from the 600m and turned for home with a good lead, which he held most of the way down the straight. He only wilted nearing the post and then just lasted to win in a photo. The three-year-old colt Eurozone was back in third place to the home turn. He commenced to make up ground from the 400m and kept running on gamely, making a late bid in the closing stages to just miss in a photo. It was an impressive first-up effort. The Cox Plate (Gr 1, 2040m) winning three-year-old Shamus Award was second to the turn, put in a run at the 200m and kept battling on for a sound first-up third, beaten a length and a half, after appearing to have every chance. Foreteller was a distant fifth at the 600m, was then ridden hard as the pace picked-up and made ground in the straight, without threatening, for (four lengths) fourth. Finishing Card was (eight lengths) fifth while Hawkspur, having his first run since the Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) in November, where he finished 20th, dropped out to finish last in the six-horse field, beaten nine lengths. *ANZ
