Our Voodoo Prince overcame a checkered run in the straight to score a good win, his third from as many runs in Australia. The well-backed favourite settled down in tenth on the fence about eight lengths from the leader Julienas, who set a moderate early gallop. Our Voodoo Prince was going well approaching the home turn with James Winks looking for runs. He switched back towards the fence and was stopped again. A gap finally opened at the 250m and he dived through and ran away to a good win. Akzar followed the winner throughout coming from second last on the home turn. He finished on well back towards the rail for second and is a much improved horse for trainer Darren Weir. Stipulate again ran well. He was a little tardily away from his good barrier (3), to be used up to settle in sixth position. He was a little inclined to over race in the mid stages of the race when the pace slackened and then was held up for a run at the top of the straight. When clear he stayed on well to grab third on the line. He is going the right way. Saint Or Sinner had every chance in the run and battled on gamely in the straight to finished a close fourth.
