Rich Enuff went forward from his outside barrier (13) and worked before settling outside the leader. He was travelling well at the turn, dashed to the lead at the 200m and then raced away to win impressively by two and a half lengths, running the 1400m out strongly. Favourite Looks Like The Cat was back in eighth place, one off the rails, before switching deep on straightening. He went to second at the 100m and then fought on for a good second, having no chance with the winner. Awesome Rock was tenth on the rails, went to the centre on rounding the home turn and made up ground for a sound third, beaten just under five lengths. Wandjina was well back in second last place in the 13-horse field nearing the home turn. He went to the centre on straightening, switched deep at the 200m and caught the eye with his late-closing fourth. Armada was handy all the way before finishing fifth while the NZ colt Our Vespa was third on the rails but was badly checked at the 200m before finishing (6.8 lengths) sixth at his Australian debut.
