Derryn put up a very good performance in winning here at his second race start. He was ridden patiently from his wide barrier (12) and settled back in last place before improving nicely, between runners, coming to the home turn. He switched deep at the 300m and then sprinted smartly in the centre of the track to hit the front at the 50m and then went on to win most impressively. He looks a very smart colt. Sword Of Light raced in seventh place, one off the rails, improved (under riding) on straightening, he challenged at the 100m and then fought well for a good first-up second. The well-supported favourite Nasdex showed good pace to lead and he led the field until passing the 100m and then held on well for third after running a bold race.
