Analysis: Dear Demi was eased near the rear from her outside barrier (16) but Luke Nolen moved her on passing the winning post on the first occasion and she improved to be about tenth one off the rails at the 1200m. She made a strong wide run passing the 600m and turned for home in the centre of the track about seven lengths from the leaders. She continued that burst to hit the front at the 100m and lasted for a game win, plus surviving a protest from the runner-up. Gondokoro settled near last on the rails. She was conceding the leaders at least 12 lengths at the 600m and went to the centre of the track on turning for home. She closed quickly in the latter stages for a close second also protesting unsuccessfully for early interference from the winner. Vaquera was sixth on the rails to the 600m. She improved to third on straightening, took a narrow lead at the 200m and fought on well for a close third. Magic In Motion was ninth on the rails, got a nice split on turning for home and challenged at the 200m. She then kept battling on nicely for fourth. Just As Cosmic was in front of only two runners in the big field nearing the home turn. She made good ground, switching to the rails at the 100m, for a sound (one and a half lengths) fifth.
