The enigmatic three-year-old Vilanova scored a most impressive victory coming from second last and widest on the home turn to show a very good turn of foot and draw right away to score by three and a half lengths. A very impressive effort. Pinstripe Lane went back from his wide barrier (12) to settle in tenth position one off the fence. He was shuffled back approaching the home turn and was held up for a run looking for runs back to the inside. He disappointed for a run and was forced to switch into the clear on the outside. He made decent ground late when the race was over, to be third across the line and later promoted to second on protest. A good effort under the circumstances. Rudy came from ninth on the fence. He travelled well into the race staying closer to the fence. He was held up for a run and came through between runners late to finish second across the line but demoted to second after a protest. Amexed had a lovely run in the race sixth on the fence. He came with his run at the top of the straight but could not much the turn of foot of the winner on his outside. He tired late for fourth. Telepathic was trapped three wide in the run without cover. She tired badly late, but her run could be excused considering the extra ground she was forced to cover. *ANZ
