Traveston Girl was smartly away from barrier six and soon crossed to the lead. She then settled well, going quite a good pace (first 1000m 60.29), got a break on rounding the home turn and was never seriously threatened in the straight to win well, sprinting home in a smart 34.23. Shootover River raced in sixth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1), got a split at the 250m, went to third at the 100m and battled on nicely for second. Blue Lion was eighth on the rails, stuck to the inside and got along the rails in the straight, going to second at the 100m and then fought on for a sound third. Best Of The Rest, stablemate of the winner, was last in the 14-horse field to the home turn and then ran on strongly, in the centre of the track, for a very good (1.9 lengths) fourth. Chillin With Dylan was near last on the rails to the home turn, got along the rails (in restricted room) in the straight and kept making ground for a sound (2.7 lengths) fifth, looking suited to further.
