Consistent four-year-old gelding Executed stepped up quickly from recent wins at Mackay and Townsville to take out this Listed race in good style. He settled nicely in third place on the rails from his inside barrier (1) before getting along the inner on straightening. He challenged at the 200m and fought a bit too well, drawing to the lead in the closing stages for a good win. Glenbawn Dame showed her customary pace and led the field until headed inside the 100m. She then held on for a good second after running a bold race. Hardline settled back in ninth place (one off the rails) before improving (wide out) nearing the home turn. He then came with a strong late finish for an eye-catching third, at his first run from a lengthy spell following a major setback, in a most encouraging comeback. The favourite Felines settled in seventh place on the rails. She got a split rounding the home turn going through to fourth at the 300m. She then battled on to hold that position, beaten just over a length and a half after seeming to have every chance.
