The New Zealand-trained Chocante stage a solid staying effort in winning well here. He began well from his inside barrier (1) and went to the front. He then travelled well under Jim Byrne, running along at a good pace, lifted the tempo further from the 600m, held a clear lead at the 200m and was not threatened from the point to score decisively. Single Gaze showed good pace from her outside barrier (14) and after working early on, settled in fourth place (with cover). She moved up well coming to the home turn, went to second at the 200m and then fought really well under her 59kg top weight for a very good second, conceding 6kg to the winner. Pemberley raced in fourth place on the rails, went through to second at the home turn and kept battling on soundly to take the minor placing.
