Mick Price-trained mare Pedrena is building an imposing record now winning six of 12 starts (with three seconds) after taking out this Group Three race, her second win at that level. She was smartly away from her inside barrier and settled in fourth place on the rails before getting along the inner on turning for home. She hit the front at the 100m and went on to score well. The favourite Invincibella raced in eighth place (one off the rails), put in a good move (deep) nearing the home turn, responded to riding to challenge halfway down the straight and then fought well for a good second. The well-supported Schism again went to the front, set a good pace and kept battling on well in the straight to hold third. Shillelagh caught the eye running on from near last at the 600m for (2.2 lengths) fourth while the top weight (60kg) Foxplay was handy most of the way and did well in battling on for (2.3 lengths) fifth.
