Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained mare Our Crown Mistress, whose prior nine career starts had all been in Victoria, staged a nice effort in winning here. She soon found the early lead and then settled nicely under Brett Prebble, steadying the tempo before dashing clear on turning for home. She then had enough in hand to hold on a win nicely. The favourite Stella Victoria had a good trip in third place on the rails, eased into clear running rounding the home turn and steadily made ground in the sprint home for second. Her stablemate Femme Fireball raced in sixth place, one off the rails, improved nearing the home turn and kept running on well for a closeup third.
