Plague Stone found this class much easier than his previous seven starts and bolted clear over the final 100m to score win two and his first at stakes level. He settled third last from the gates but ran up along the fence and kept gaining on the leaders to be fifth turning in. Into the straight he pulled out three wide, balanced, caught the leader at the 150m then strolled clear to win as he liked by three and three quarter lengths in the heavy conditions. Vega One was second last at the 500m, moved up to fifth at the 200m then kept up a strong run through to grab second just short of the post. Spirit's Choice led them in, tried to skip clear but was caught by the winner at the 150m then lost second just short of the line.
