Godolphin's consistent filly Multaja took her record to five wins (three placings) from 12 starts and her second victory at stakes level in winning here. Blake Shinn rode her patiently and she settled back in 12th place in the 14-horse field, behind a quick tempo. She improved between runners rounding the home turn. Shinn steered her through a gap to hit the front at the 100m and she then drew clear to score quite impressively. The favourite Madam Rouge settled in fifth place but deep. She moved up well (wide out) at the home turn, challenged at the 100m and then fought on for second after a wide trip. The $101 outsider Smartypy raced in seventh place, moved up on turning for home and kept running on well to take third from the well-supported Naantali who finished (2.9 lengths) fourth having been handy all the way.
