The top weight Howmuchdoyouloveme showed very good pace from his wide barrier (16) and crossed quickly to settle in third spot, one off the rails. He moved up strongly (three wide) at the turn before taking the lead at the 200m. He then drew clear to win comfortably by two lengths in smart time (57.01). Delago Bolt was a clear last in the large field of 17 to the 600m point. He went to the extreme outside at the 300m and came with a strong late for a very good second. I’m Cool was smartly away and raced in second place to the 600m. He moved up to challenge at the home turn, got to a narrow lead nearing the 200m and then battled on quite well for third. G’Day Old Mate was past midfield to the 600m and made up good ground for fourth while the favourite Pentasia ($4.60) was a handy fifth to the turn, put in a run to challenge at the 200m and held on for fifth after seeming to have every chance. *ANZ
