The David Hayes-trained Alzora settled eighth one off the rails. She moved up wide with cover at the 600m, putting in a good run shortly after straightening, getting to second at the 200m. She then had a great battle to grab a short head win. The consistent filly You’re So Good soon led. She set a moderate early pace (first 800m 48.85) taking a clear lead at the 300m, then battling on gamely for a close second. Petite Diablesse was well back to the 600m, angled between runners at the 600m and finished strongly for a close third, being unsuited by the sprint-home tactics of the race – she is a promising filly. The Peter Moody-trained Baluch was near last and moved up wide with cover from the 600m. She kept running on strongly in the straight, also being unsuited by the sprint home, for a close fourth. She will appreciate further. Kazanluk was about sixth, but trapped three wide most of the way. She put in a run after turning for home, but tired over the final stages for a sound first-up fifth. *ANZ
