The Danny O’Brien-trained Excitable Boy settled fourth in the centre of the track before putting in a run passing the 300m. He set out after the leader (Mount Zero) shortly afterward and finished too well, drawing clear to win a length and a quarter in smart time (56.67). The filly Mount Zero went straight to the lead and grabbed a nice break at the 200m, only to be run down in the latter stages for a sound second. Sanosuke was second last in the seven-horse field at the 400m and put in a late run to get third in a photo, running on nicely on debut. The first starter and favourite Indulgence blundered at the start but recovered quickly to be in second spot by herself on the flat side. She tired from the 300m to finish last. *ANZ
