Speediness travelled well just past midfield, in the centre of the track, until the 300m where he commenced a strong finishing run. He kept running on well to reach the lead after passing the 100m. He then drew clear to score a good length first-up win. Temple Of Boom was ridden quietly behind the leading division on the rails side until passing the 400m. He then put in a good run to challenge at the 200m and kept battling on well for a good second. Albrecht was well back on the grandstand side of the course to the 400m. He then came with a good run (wide out) for a late-closing third. The favourite Rebel Dane was about eighth, about three lengths away from the leaders on the rails side. He was under pressure to improve at the 400m and recovered to reach a narrow lead at the 100m. But he tired from that point to finish (length and quarter) fourth after having every chance. *ANZ
