The British-trained Side Glance was seventh in the early stages but with the moderate early pace under Jamie Spencer who showed initiative and quickly took him to the front at the 1400 metre mark. They grabbed a break at the 400 metres point and then fought back strongly to score a good three quarter lengths win. Dear Demi was back in eighth spot most of the way to the 400 metre point. She took a rails run half-way down the straight, improved to sixth at the 200 metres mark and then fought on well for a good second. Moriarty was back in eighth place to the 600 metres pole, put in a good run at the 300 metres mark and then battled on well for a good third. Mr Moet was sixth most of the way to the 600 metre point, fanned wide rounding the home turn and held on well for a sound fourth. Pakal was a handy fifth between runners to the turn. He was a bit one-paced at the 400m and then made good ground, in restricted room, in the closing stages for a good fifth. Jet Away was about seventh on the rails, got a split to be in a challenging position at the 300m but then just battled on to finish sixth. *ANZ
