Jameka put up a strong staying effort in winning very well, handling the Heavy9 conditions in good style. She went to the front and settled particularly well, travelling a bit away from the rails. She was headed (on the rails) at the 1600m and then went along in second place, outside the new leader (Muzyka). Damien Oliver asked her to quicken, she took the lead nearing the home turn and she was not seriously threatened from the point to win impressively. Honesta settled back in ninth place, wide with cover, following a steady tempo. She tracked-up nicely rounding the home turn, switched deep on straightening, got to third at the 300m and kept battling on well, going along the rails over the final stages, for a good second in a solid staying effort. Favourite Ambience settled well, about seventh (wide with cover), following a moderate tempo. She switched deeper rounding the home turn, briefly looked a threat at the 300m and kept battling on from there to hold a sound third. Pasadena Girl was eighth on the rails, travelling well, angled into clear running rounding the home turn but then appeared to struggle in running out the distance to finish (9.6 lengths) fourth while Sacred Eye was a handy fourth (wide, without cover) most of the way to 600m. She still looked to be going well nearing the home turn but was under pressure on straightening and also appeared tested by the distance (and/or the conditions) and faded to finish (11 lengths) seventh.
