Daniela Rosa followed her good first-up win at Sale on 19 June with a smart win here, taking her record to four wins from seven starts. She settled well in fifth place, between runners, before angling into clear running at the 300m. She hit the front at the 100m and then drew clear to score a strong win, running the 1600m out well. The favourite Euro Angel was third on the rails, racing a bit keenly in stages behind a moderate tempo (first 1000m 62.50). She got along the inner at the 300m, took the lead shortly afterwards and then fought on well for second, just finding the winner a bit too strong in the closing stages. Payroll was eighth, one off the rails, moved up (deep) rounding the home turn, got to fourth at the 200m and kept battling on soundly to take the minor placing.
