Levendi took his record to three wins (and maiden stakes win) in five starts with a sound effort here. He began slowly from barrier five but improved to settle midfield. Starting the bend rider Ben Melham parked him one off the fence and past the 800m they were in behind the leading group. Into the straight they had a wall of runners to pass and Melham had to pause, eased out another width for a run, then got busy and went after the leader, collaring him inside the 100m and stretching out to the line to score by a long neck. A good run from Sambro, who was four wide before straightening, charged up to lead at the 250m and fought the winner bravely to the line. Irish Vega was last before straightening, pulled widest and kept up a strong run to the line, not far away in third from Beau Geste, who also was well back into the straight, got clear late and rattled home for a close fourth.
