The British import Caravan Rolls On settled in fifth place on the rails from his good barrier (2), travelling comfortably. Craig Williams steered him along the rails on turning for home, before taking the lead at the 200m. He then ran the 2400m out strongly to score by just under a length after a perfect trip. Marksmanship was sixth one off the rails. He put in a run from the 600m to challenge at the home turn and then kept fighting on for a sound second after seeming to have every chance. Like A Carousel was last in the 13-horse field to the 700m. He improved wide nearing the turn before switching between runners on straightening. He then made up good late ground for third, putting up a smart effort. More Than Sacred was past midfield on the rails, improved nicely to be in a challenging position at the turn before battling on for (1.3 lengths) fourth. Wish Come True plugged on fairly well for (4.8 lengths) fifth, just beating Shoreham (sixth) who made ground from the tail of the field without threatening. The favourite Sertorius raced wide in the early stages before settling in fourth place. He was handily place at the turn but was soon under pressure and disappointed in finishing (8.4 lengths) eighth while last season’s VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) and ATC Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) runner-up Zanbagh also disappointed, dropping out to finish (17 lengths) 11th.
