Dothraki was away well and used up to hold a forward position settling down in third on the fence. Rawiller elected to kick up on the fence at the 500m to take the lead. He kicked well clear in the straight closer to the fence, got very tired late but just held on to score by a head. A good effort after all the work he did in the run and racing on inferior ground in the straight. Safeguard raced three wide in the run in sixth position. He came very wide on the home turn and was blocked a few times at the top of the straight. He came with a big run late down the outside to just miss the tiring leader. Palmera Lad came from last and widest on the home turn to finish strongly on the outside to grab third on the line. Costa Viva also ran well coming from well back in the run to be finishing on well for fourth. She will be improved by the run and a step up in distance. A good first up run at her first Australian start. *ANZ
