Takedown scored a really good win. The Gary Mooretrained three-year-old showed his good early pace to go to the front. He then went along at a solid pace (first 600m 34.82), turned for home with a good break and then fought back gamely for a smart win. Sold For Song settled in last place in the 16-horse field from her difficult barrier (15). She went widest of all at the home turn and then came with an eye-catching last run to take second, putting up a very smart effort. Always Sacred raced in fifth place, one off the rails, improved nicely on turning for home and got to a distant second at the 100m before holding on to take the minor place. The favourite Santa Ana Lane was midfield on the rails to the home turn and had difficulty in obtaining fully clear running at any stage in the home straight before finishing (6.5 lengths) 12th. His run should be overlooked.
