The Tab Wave

Age: 3 and 4 yo Type: OPEN

In a keenly contested finish to the inaugural $250,000 The Wave, the Tony Gollan-trained gelding A Man To Match staged a solid effort in grabbing a last-stride victory. He settled nicely in a midfield position, on the rails, before improving between runners nearing the home turn. He angled deeper and into clear running on passing the 300m and then came with a late bid to grab victory on the post. It was also a good ride by apprentice Baylee Nothdurft. Trevelyan enjoyed a good run in sixth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1) before improving along the inner (under riding) at the home turn. He took a split to challenge nearing the 100m and then fought well for a close second. The Bjorn Baker-trained Fun Fact was handily placed in fourth spot, moved up (3 wide) coming to the home turn, challenged at the 100m and then battled well for a closeup third, finishing narrowly in front of his well-supported stablemate Bobby Dee who tracked the leader (Diamonds And Rust) and then seemed to have every chance after briefly hitting the front at the 100m before finishing just behind the placegetters in fourth place.
