Loverboy Charlie, a three-year-old gelding from the Gerald Ryan stable won easily here. Having his third race start and his first run this preparation, he was ridden quietly and settled at the tail of the fivehorse field, behind a solid pace. He got through on the rails nearing the home turn, switched out to challenge on straightening and then raced away to win quite impressively.
