Gary Portelli-trained colt Roman Wolf staged a good effort in winning here on debut. He began well and soon went to the front. He then travelled well at a good tempo, was challenged nearing the home turn, got a break on straightening and then held on to score a narrow but very good win. Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly Miraculous was smartly away, settled outside the leader and eventual winner, put pressure on that running coming to the home turn and kept battling strongly for (half-neck) second in a game and promising effort at only her second race start.
