Godolphin-raced three-year-old Grincheux, who was having his second run this preparation, put up a promising effort in scoring his first win in four starts here. He began well and settled outside the leader and favourite King Darcy before putting pressure on that runner on straightening. He got to the front at the 50m and then went on to win nicely, appearing to do so with something in hand.
