Michael Freedman-trained three-year-old gelding Cannot Be Serios scored a promising win, racing here on debut. He settled nicely in fifth place, between runners, got a split to challenge at the 200m and then finished a bit too well, appearing to score with something in hand. The Bjorn Baker-trained Samadoubt shared the early lead, got to the front at the 200m and battled on well under his top weight (58kg) for a good second after working in the early stages. Gary Portelli-trained Vincero was last in the seven-horse field to the home turn and caught the eye in running on late for third, going well on debut.
