David Pfieffer-trained colt Monte Ditto did well in winning here at his second start and his first run since January. He began well from barrier eight but was caught outside the leading group (racing without cover) before going to the front halfway down the straight. He then fought back to win, staging a smart effort after working most of the race. The Godolphin-raced colt Haikili raced back in seventh place, moved up well at the 100m and fought well for a good second on debut.
