Well-supported favourite Pecans scored good first up win, taking her record to six wins (with five placings) from 16 starts. She began well before settling nicely in third place, tracking the leaders. She moved up on straightening and finished too well, despite being forced a bit deep over the closing stages, to score by a short-neck at the post. Burning Passion raced outside the leader (Fabrizio), got to the front at the 200m, briefly drifted a bit deep and then battled on well for second after running a bold race. Fabrizio went to the front as expected. Set quite a good pace and battled on to take third in a sound effort at his second run back. Interlocuter raced in second last place in the eight-horse field and made ground without threatening for (3 lengths) fourth.
