Godolphin-raced gelding Intuition followed recent wins at Flemington and Kembla Grange to complete the hat-trick here and record his first stakes success in 19 starts. He settled in last place in the 12-horse field from his wide barrier, tracking a quick tempo before improving between runners on turning for home. He got a split halfway down the straight and fought best under his limit-weight (53kg) to win well. The favourite Tactical Advantage did not show any early pace and settled back in ninth place. He went deep rounding the home turn and then put in a good run to challenge at the 100m before fighting gamely under his top weight (59.5kg) for second, beaten a long neck. The winner's stablemate Badajoz settled a handy fourth from his good barrier (3), got into clear running on straightening and kept battling on well for third.
