Victorian-trained mares filled the placings with the Shea Edentrained Ocean Embers putting up a smart performance in winning, her second stakes success in 11 starts to date. She settled in second last place in the eight-horse field, went widest of all at the home turn and then sprinted quickly to hit the front at the 50m before going on to win impressively. The Darren Weir-trained Lyuba travelled outside the leader (Trot On Candy) before racing to the front on straightening. She then fought on well, just finding the late-closing winner too good in finishing a good second. The The John Salanitri-trained I Love It, who was resuming, raced in sixth place, one off the rails. She improved nicely coming to the home turn, was in a challenging position at the 200m and then battled on quite well for a good third after seeming to have every chance.
