Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt Intense Focus followed his debut fifth in two-year-old maiden (1250m) at Canterbury on July 4 with a promising win here. He was smartly away, went to the front after some early pressure. He then travelled quite well, drew clear at the 300m and fought back to win well. The Tim Martin-trained filly Kara's Hope settled in second last place in the seven-horse field, moved up nicely on turning for home, challenged at the 100m and kept fighting on well for second in a good first-up effort.
